Over this past weekend in Toronto, Katharine Milar of Earlham College (Richmond, Indiana) was acclaimed the next Executive Officer of Cheiron: The International Society for the History of Behavioral and Social Sciences. Milar succeeds Andrew Winston (of U. Guelph, Ontario), who has held the position for the past six years. Milar is currently the Membership Chair for the Society for the History of Psychology (APA, Div. 26), an organization of which she was president in 2002.
Several days before, it was announced that Wade Pickren has been voted President-Elect of the Society for the History of Psychology. Pickren was the archivist and historian of the American Psychological Association for several years before moving to his current position at Ryerson U. (Toronto, Ontario). He was also the local host of this year’s meeting of Cheiron. He will officially become President-Elect of the SHP when the current President-Elect, Christopher Green (yours truly) moves up to the office of President in January 2009. The current president of SHP is Deborah Johnson of U. Southern Maine.
In other SHP elections, James Pate (Georgia State U.) was elected APA Council Representative, and Trey Buchanan (Wheaton College, Illinois) was acclaimed Secretary-Treasurer.
